So, another meet. Didn't compete as I am planning for one in October, but, did help spot and load for two sessions. First one started at 8, and went until 11 or so, and the next one started at 1 and got done at 530 ish. Lots of work and got a really cool shirt out of it. Honestly was a pretty nice way to come out of a deload week.
Food was provided. Snacks for the volunteers (donuts, Gatorade, cheez its, cookies) and the meet director had a cook out available in between sessions, which was pulled pork sandwiches, chips, Cole slaw, and beans.
There isn't a lot to talk about here, this is mainly just to put on record that I helped with the sport.

USAPL Fairbanks-Alaska Showdown
Weighed in at 82 kilos, one kilo below the weight class. Cutting out conditioning for strength gains probably lead to a gain in weight from 78 kilos over time, but I wanted to have as strong a showing as I could possibly have, given that I had only two months to prepare.
Getting to the meet was easy enough, left around noon from Wasilla and landed in Fairbanks around 6 pm, and was very stiff from a conditioning workout that I had to add in from Wednesday, and from all the driving on thursday. Soaked at Chena Hot Springs for an hour or so and that loosened up everything. Took friday to explore the city a bit and eat at some good restaurants.
The actual meet went well, despite having stomach issues throughout the day. Warm ups went well, with 12 stations available and only 30 competitors
I hit all three squat attempts, 132/142.5/152.5 easily, and hit 2 bench press attempts, 85/100. Missed my bench press attempt of 107.5, and hit two deadlift attempts of 170/180, missing 185. This gave me a total of 432.5 kilos, with a wilkes score of 290.91, and I placed third.
I missed my goal of 455 kilos, but not by much, and will be aiming for a total of 500 kilos come next meet, which should be around October-December time frame.
Will be running various ideas of getting stronger. Dan John's macroloading seems like a fun thing to try and combined with strip sets will be a good way to get in and out of the gym if it works.
